Updated 10/28/05

All the rabbits are again at serious risk at the time of this update!!

Rabbits in shelters do not have the luxury of time. At any time after they are available for adoption, they can be euthanized. If you want to adopt a rabbit listed, call the shelter IMMEDIATELY! (24 hours a day) Please have them put an adoption alert into their computer and on the cage card for you. Be sure to get the name of person you spoke to. Then, as soon as the shelter is open, be waiting to adopt the rabbit. Do not assume that an adoption alert will hold the rabbit more than 1 day. Do not use the adoption alert if you are not serious about adopting, if people do not follow through, the shelter could decide to refuse to take adoption alerts over the phone, which means lives will be lost.

Trixie has great litterbox habbits and once out of her cage she has a mellow disposition.

2 YEARS.
WHITE WITH GREY.
Snowflake loves people and will do anything for a
cuddle including giving lots of bunny kisses.  As soon as you open her door she will rush to greet you.  She can be gently held and is not afraid of being correctly picked up.  She would love a large space to really dance (she has some fantastic 'moves' even in the small shelter exercise pen).  She is litter box trained.

A750369 'SMOKEY'.
MALE.
  ARRIVED AT SHELTER 9/19/05.
SMALL.
9 MONTHS.
GREY AND BLACK.
Smokey's coat is so beautiful it just has to be seen to be believed.  He loves people and other bunnies and once out of his cage is remarkably friendly.  He is very 'hormonal' at the moment which is making him a little frustrated.  When I started to pet him he literally collapsed with joy.  He is very clever and knew to sit still to have his photo taken.  After his neuter Smokey will be a devoted snuggle bun and with his amazing coloring and James Bond charm he could woo
any girl bunny or human.

The following rabbits are in private foster care and no longer at shelter.

When you adopt a rabbit in foster care, another rabbit in need can be given sanctuary, so you help save two lives.

A703656(female).  This gorgeous black and white Jersey Wooly Mix female bunny is a gentle, friendly and a mild-mannered girl. She was dumped at the shelter by irresponsible people.  She hasn't been on a good diet and her long fur was tangled. She is currently in foster care but really needs to find a forever home soon.  Please contact her foster mom, Kathy at feltoart@yahoo.com for more information.

Saved from Euthansia, now in foster care, please use the listed contact information.

Benny was running out of time but is now in foster care with Rabbit and Pocket Pet Adoptions, as of 11/30/03, please call 818-709-0055 for more information.  Benny is an adorable pink eyed white dwarf mix. He is about 4 pounds and is full grown.  Benny is friendly and loves to snuggle.  As soon as you open the cage door to let him out, he leans out for a head rub.  He is probably around a year old. Available Now!

Saved from Euthansia, now in foster care, please use the listed contact information.

This young lady is gorgeous.  She has a blue gray coat with white "Dutch" markings and dark brown eyes. She has opinions about life and isn't afraid to tell you. She'll dig at your hand if you aren't giving her what she wants. It doesn't happen often and it doesn't hurt because we keep her nails trimmed but it could startle a younger child so no kids under 10 please!

She is quite friendly as well.  This little girl is about 4 pounds and less than a year old. Sakura gave birth (9/20/04) to 5 little kits while at the shelter.  All but one, Purdy, have found new homes. (Added 9/28/04) Nla@rabbitadoption.org

Saved from Euthanasia, now in foster care. Please contact Lisa

Juliet's gray baby, Sylvia.  This beautiful silvery gray (chinchilla) bunny is growing up fast and is almost as big as her mom.  (The rabbit in front is her sister who is STILL at the shelter!) Sylvia is about 6 1/2 pounds and is very loving.  She needs to be spayed when she is old enough (4-5 months old)

Sylvia had front teeth that were "malocludded", meaning they needed to be trimmed on a regular basis or they can grow so long she would not be able to eat. (They can even grow up into their sinus cavities!) At the vet's suggestions, Sylvia had her front teeth removed. This sounds cruel, but it really just means that she no longer has to have her teeth trimmed every few weeks. It is a much better option for a young rabbit who is going to need her teeth trimmed frequently for the rest of her life. She does need her carrots and some other veggies cut up for her, but she can still eat her hay and pellets with no problems. She is already spayed.

Saved from Euthansia, now in foster care, please use the listed contact information.

Sadly, Purdy's momma Sakura was left at the shelter where she gave birth 7 days later on 9/20/04 to 5 small babies. The North Central shelter had over 30 rabbits and time was running out when we found a foster home able to provide care for them. (Want to foster? Foster parents are true heros.)

Purdy has what are called moon eyes, this means her eyes are half blue. Purdy will be around 5-6 pounds when full grown. (Added 9/28/04) Nla@rabbitadoption.org
